Ian was staying with friends in the local community over the Easter Weekend, as a keen sportsperson he was keen to make use of the Bowling Green for an informal kick around with his friends' children, who are regular users of the open space and other local youngsters.

The fundraising activities of the Bowling Green Community Group were brought to Ian's attention, he was informed of the current task of raising £20,000 to enhance the site at the top of Trelawney road and he was very enthusiastic in encouraging local people to support the fundraising activities of the community group to improve the facilities of the Bowling Green.

Guy Doncaster, Bowling Green Community Group Chairperson said "It was great to have Ian Wright at the Bowly, to help raise the profile of the Bowly, which is the most popular play area in Falmouth and highlight the need for more community involvement to help raise additional funding, that will pay for the improvements that users of the Bowling Green would like to see". Mr Doncaster added "Public open spaces are really important as recreational places for local people to use, Ian Wright like many children would use local parks for his own recreation, this helped establish his skills as a professional footballer, the Bowling Green Community group are pleased that everyday at the Bowly, children and young people are actively useing the site for sports and other games, because it is a safe environment in their local community."
